We would like to invite you all to a special event.
On Sunday evening, 26th May 2024, Djabe & Chieli Minucci — Tour of Waterfalls will be recorded on a 24-track tape recorder at the Budapest Jazz Club at 19.30 (Budapest, Hungary).
Guitarist Chieli Minucci is a founding member and leader of the world-famous American jazz/funk/world formation Special EFX, formed in the early 1980s. Special EFX was one of the most prominent bands on the jazz scene in the 80’s and 90’s. They continue to be a major force today, with several Grammy nominations to their credit. As well as being a composer and bandleader, Chieli has recorded and performed with many of the world’s top artists. He has recorded and performed with Celine Dion, Lou Reed, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Bolton, Rupert Holmes, Anastasia, Gerald Veasley, Omar Hakim, Eric Marienthal and many more.
Djabe is a leader in the jazz/world fusion genre.
They have won many national and international awards. They have performed in 44 countries, worked with Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett for 22 years. Their releases have received worldwide acclaim for the quality of their music and sound. The band have worked with the legendary Beatles and Pink Floyd Abbey Road studios for 26 years. Miles Showell’s hakf speed-cut Djabe albums have been hugely successful at HiFi shows and are among the audiophile community’s favourite records. Their 2023 album Art In Tone was recorded at the Artone studio in the Netherlands using only analogue techniques, cutting directly from the output of the sound mixer to disc and recorded to tape. The Djabe — Art In Tone album was presented with great success at the HiFi exhibitions in Vienna, Budapest and this year in Munich. The native DSD256 edition of the album was released on 15 March and was one of the most popular recordings for weeks.
The series of high quality analogue recordings continues with Djabe special guest Chieli Minucci. The sound is recorded on a 24-track Tascam tape recorder. Prior to the recording, the band will hold a public meeting at 7.30pm to talk and sign copies of their releases, which will also be available for purchase.
The recording technique will be demonstrated by myself, Ferenc Koscsó.
